Hello and welcome to Dave's Picture Pod. We invite you to come in and browse around. We hope that you will find something that you like and which will look nice matted, framed and displayed in your home or office.

In welcoming you to our store, let me first tell you a little about myself and how the store came to be.

I became interested in photography in the late 1970's and enrolled in a northern Virginia community college to get some formal education in the field. I found that I enjoyed capturing images and processing them in the dark room. This gave me the satisfaction of being creative and understanding that photography is a lot more than just "taking a picture". It truely is an art form in which one can make a statement, or express emotions. ( "One Picture IS Worth A Thousand Words"). During my college time I found that I was not a "smile and say cheese" kind of guy. What I prefer are images of landscapes, wildlife and nature, and sometimes those which are somewhat abstract and  can be interpreted as  making  a statement about life in general.

After my retirement from The United Sates Marine Corps in 1981, we relocated to Texas. Due to the many factors involved in this relocation, I found that I did not have the time required to pursue a second career in the field of photography. This being the case, while still loving the creative aspects of photography, I found that I had evolved, mainly into, taking family pictures ( a "smile and say cheese" kind of guy). However, my appreciation for the art has remained intact over the years.

Whoever coined the phrase "better late then never" must have had me in mind. In early 2009 I decided to reenter the world of photography. I realized that things had changed over the years but that the fundamentals are still the same. Those of composition, light, shutter speed and etc.. The dark room in many cases, has been replaced with the computer and now we talk in terms of pixels and such. In the end it all boils down to one basic ideal. Yes, understand your equipment but, make the image you shoot as strong as possible so as to minimize the degree of editing which must be done.  Once I got my feet on the ground and  started to stockpile images I decided that I wanted to share them with other folks who appreciate photographic art. To this end "Dave's Picture Pod" web site was published on February 27,2010.

Again, thank you for visiting. Come back often as images will be added and updated regularly.
